Paul J. Bartel began his affection with stringed instruments
while still in public school in Columbus, Ohio. His love of the violin
branched out into teaching privately while in the 7th grade.
Majoring in Performance and Education at Miami University, he continued to gain interest in all things strings adding repair to his skill bank. Teaching seven years in the Finneytown, Ohio schools brought most of his interests to one focus while developing a strong orchestral program. Because he saw a great need for repair services and a better instrument source, he began the Baroque Violin Shop in 1973. As his great interest and affection for the world of stringed instruments grew, he expanded his collection to include a collection of major professional level instruments, a rental program of 7000 plus instuments, and the most complete source of contemporary young artist-level instruments available in the midwest. |

Since artistic opportunity for
young people has always been one of his greatest passions, he began the
Wyoming Fine Arts Center in 1995.
The Center houses the Cincinnati String Academy,
The Wyoming Dance Center, The Musik Kids Program, The Art Workshop,
Summer String Fling Music Camp, Summer Arts Express Camp,
The Cincinnati Civic Orchestra, The Cincinnati Junior Strings,
Flying Cloud Academy of Vintage Dance,
Cincinnati Contra Dancers and
Touchstone Project.
His list of hobbies and passions now include his 200-acre farm, complete with several log cabins and a beautiful post-and-beam barn that serves as Paul's playground. He often hosts the Boy Scouts, musical groups, and his very proud family for sessions including fishing, shooting, and general "farm style" activities. As you may have guessed, all of the activities are included in the passions of Paul. |
